The bolt action means no clicker sticking out of the top, so the Kent maintains a low profile and opens in one fluid motion. The bolt action prevents accidental opening in-pocket. Nobody digs blowing out a pair of pants with a big ink stain. The James Brand spent a lot of time studying existing bolt-action mechanisms to better understand it. There’s a balance to strike between proper fidget factor and ease of use. The shape of the slot for the bolt is the key factor in determining how the action feels in hand: how much force is required to push it down, how easily it locks up, and how easily it unlocks.
